Już od dobrych kilku dni słyszałam, że wkrótce mamy się wybrać do tawerny. Mama Janiego, która jest uznawana za bezrobotną, miała właśnie odebrać swój zasiłek. Kryzys, nie kryzys, ale proste rozumowanie każdego Greka, każe zaraz po wypłacie zabrać wszystkich swoich najbliższych do tawerny i zafundować, wszystko czego chcą. I to nie jest żart, ani żadne podkoloryzowanie – tak właśnie jest. Naprawdę do tej pory nie mogę się nadziwić, że ten kraj przeżywa kryzys dopiero teraz i jeszcze nie upadł!
W każdym razie wyjście do tawerny to naprawdę wielka sprawa. Olivka, podobnie jak i ja żyłyśmy tą zapowiedzią już od początku tygodnia. Przyszła z pracy, w której pracuje z małymi dziećmi jako logopedka, w szarym dresie i obwisłej koszulce z wyblakłym logo firmy. Na jej ubraniu widać było jeszcze ślady śliny i glutków małych klientów, podobno wczoraj jeden ją obsikał… Przepoczwarzyła się w jakieś pół godziny. I nie wiem co robiła w łazience, ale po wyjściu wyglądała naprawdę spektakularnie. Ma czarne włosy jak atrament, skórę w kolorze kości słoniowej, czarne oczy i usta dokładnie jak przysłowiowa malina. Jestem pewna, że gdybym była mężczyzną straciłabym dla niej głowę. Dlatego właśnie nie mogę przeboleć, że na co dzień widzę ją w skarpetkach wciśniętych w japonki i męskich obwisłych gatkach. A może jest w tym jakaś logika…. Może Olivka wie o tym jaki kryje się w niej potencjał. Gromadzi go na co dzień skrzętnie, a jak przyjdzie co do czego – wychodzi z pidżamy i przemienia się w prawdziwego motyla. Na pewno – tak to sobie zaplanowala!
Po drodze, prócz najbliższej rodziny, zabraliśmy ze sobą ciotkę i dwie koleżanki Olivki. Wszyscy ubrani jak na jakąś rodzinną uroczystość znaleźliśmy się przy stoliku kilka metrów od samego morza. Po upalnym dniu, kiedy nawet nie chce się jeść, kiedy przychodzi już wytchnienie, zwłaszcza o rzut beretem od morza, wszystko smakuje inaczej i naprawdę nie podrobi tego, żadna „grecka restauracja”, choćby nie wiem jak dobra, ale nie w Grecji. Pierwszy wszedł prosty chleb, a następnie przystawki, czyli: elementarna podstawa wszystkiego – sałatka grecka plus tzatzyki i czerwone wino. A następnie krewetki wielkości chomika, ośmiornica, kalmary, świeżo wyłowione z morza…Naprawdę, choćbym nie wiem jak się starała – tego nie dało się zjeść sztućcami, a jedzenie palcami jest czasem tak przyjemne… Nie wiem jak opisać smak, jaki mają w sobie te wszystkie rzeczy w tym całym otoczeniu, naprawde nie sposób…Chciałoby się też, żeby w takich okolicznościach brzuch nie miał dna, ale to też niemożliwe…Jedyne na co można sobie pozwolić, to przestać liczyć kalorię i myśleć logicznie, ze po dziesiatej sie nie je… Teraz dopiero uświadomiłam sobie, dlaczego do tawerny zaprasza się, aż tyle osób. To prosty pretekst, żeby zamówić dokładnie wszystko co jest w ofercie i być naprawdę w stanie spróbować wszystkiego.
Rachunek przyszedł, nie powiem jaki, choć podpatrzyłam[1], wraz ze kawałkami różnych ciast, żeby osłodzić gorycz przy płaceniu. To naprawdę genialny pomysł, podawania rachunku, bo przy wyjmowaniu portfela i wkładaniu do ust czegoś słodkiego, robi się przynajmniej neutralnie. Bez mrugnięcia okiem uregulowała go „bezrobotna” mama Janiego i turlając się do wyjścia udaliśmy się do domu. Nie mam pojęcia, czy w tym życiu będę mogła coś jeszcze zjeść… Ale jednego jestem pewna – jeśli kiedyś będę miała tutaj „gorszy” dzień, to na pewno tak jak stoję, udam się do tawerny i też nie będę liczyć grosza!
Dodając na koniec – na moje nieszczęście – ciotka Janiego, która była z nami w tawernie właśnie uczy się angielskiego…sama(!)…Zrobiła mi małą awanturę, że ostatnio jak się widziałyśmy mówiłam tylko po angielsku, a teraz chcę mówić już po grecku – więc ona nie może sie odnaleźć! Całą rozmowę angielskim, którego nawet po uzo nie dało się zrozumieć, okraszało co chwilę dolatujące „ćwir ćwir!”. Prosili mnie również, żebym powiedziała jak w Polsce mówią osły…Ale nie urodziłam się wczoraj…! Odpowiedziałam, że w Polsce dawno zastąpiliśmy osły samochodami, więc nie mam pojęcia jakie dźwięki wydają! A to cwaniaki!!!
